Clase Azul Tequila Master Artisans Edición Limitada

Master Artisans

In Mexico, artisanship is a living legacy: a language through which history, technique and imagination are transformed into tangible beauty. Each piece created by masterful hands is testimony to a cultural lineage that transcends time.

Our Master Artisans collection celebrated the most exquisite expressions of Mexican folk art through collaborations with the country’s great masters; guardians of ancestral trades that reveal the soul of our culture through their work.

Ángel Ortiz

Since he was 11 years old, Master Artisan Ángel Ortiz learned his grandparents’ trade; he later perfected the barro bruñido technique, together with master Jorge Wilmot. Recognized with the National Prize of Science and Art, his work spans from rural scenes and festivities to symbols of life and death, reflecting the soul of Tonalá.

Beyond recognition, his biggest source of pride comes from sharing and passing down artisanal knowledge so that the pottery tradition may continue and evolve.

Barro Bruñido

Barro bruñido, is one of the oldest Mexican pottery techniques, it gets its name from the process that makes it shine: friction from pyrite, a metallic mineral, upon the dry and decorated surface. The result is a smooth and luminous finish, symbol of Tonalteca mastery.

Its earth, ocher and blue tones, along with motifs of flora and fauna, evoke Jalisco’s landscapes and the imagination of its people. In the Ortiz’ hands, this ancestral tradition reaches a contemporary language that honors the past without ceasing to reinvent it.

The Creations

In its fourth release, the collection pays homage to Master Artisan Ángel Ortiz, whose work is the fruit of decades of dedication and preserves a technique that has been passed down for generations, perfected by time and love of one's trade.

This limited edition presents three decanters that reimagine the legacy of barro bruñido through his contemporary eyes. Three visions that dialogue among themselves like the stages of mastery: the freshness of beginning, the maturity of experience and the fulness of shared legacy.

Each decanter holds a unique expression of tequila within, each curated by our Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco. Three spirits conceived as a homage to time, to memory and art that is passed down from generation to generation.
